Jesus spoke of many things during his ministry on earth such as loving God and neighbor, caring for the poor and needy, persevering in the face of trials, taking up our cross, and what being a disciple really means.

However, like nothing else, the Kingdom defined his purpose for being in this world and underlined everything he said and did in the world. He was a man with a mission ~ and establishing the Kingdom of God on earth was, and still is, that mission.

By celebrating the Feast of Christ, the King, we too acknowledge that Christ reigning on earth is our mission as well! When you resist temptation, Christ ruling in your life has become your personal conviction. When you invest time in studying the scriptures to know the mind of Christ, Christ reigning in your life has become a personal conviction.

When you humble yourself enough to repent of your sins and even confess them; and forgive someone because Christ commanded it; and pray for someone who despises you; and support someone despite great inconvenience ~ these are signs that Jesus Christ himself has become your main passion in life.

When you kneel before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and serve him in the poor, when you surrender your career plans to his divine plan for your life, then, will all know that Jesus for you is not only brother and friend but Lord and King!
