All of us have the power to make a profound difference in the world in which we live; to impact it in such a way that our lives could reverberate for many years after we are gone. Can you think of a better reason for God to put us here on this earth in the first place? I doubt you can! But I also doubt that most of the people who read this really believe that they could make such a difference. “…and Jesus said to his disciples, ‘oh yea of little faith’”.

I know, I know. You are just one person. You are not rich. You had a rough childhood. Your life is a mess and far too busy to make much of a difference. You’re not a spring chicken anymore. Besides, there’s your past… Plus, you hardly have enough time and resources to take care of “you and yours” let alone trying to alleviate the problems in your community. Notice that this sad song has a common and repeated refrain: Me, Myself, and Mine.

John didn’t have a home, many thought he was crazy, and his wardrobe made the local church clothes closet look like Macy's! But here’s the thing: John had a cousin named Jesus. You have big brother and Savior by the same name! Also, the Gospel says of John, “Surely, the hand of the Lord was upon him.” Well, the same God is with you, beside you, in front of you, behind you and IN you! If God’s Glory shined so brightly in the life of John ~ then, it should be shining even brighter in you. Do you believe this?
