The goal of the Education Ministry and its committees is to provide a rich, diverse range of information and educational resources to members of the parish and to the students and families of Saint Augustine School.

The St. Augustine Family Ministry produces activities and events designed to affirm family values and family structure in ways that help each individual to reach his or her maximum Christ-like potential.

The Saint Augustine Pastoral Council established the Social Justice and Social Services Committee as its instrument of service to the poor and the oppressed in our midst. 

The St. Augustine Holy Name Society calls together the men of this parish and serves to help strengthen their faith, encourage their spirituality and instill in them a confidence born in Christ. As members, we accept and acknowledge that it is our reverence to the Holy Name of Jesus, our awareness of His gracious gifts and our witness to His Good News that inspire us to strive to walk in His footsteps and serve as examples to all, especially our youth.

St. Augustine School is the parish's largest ministry. The school incorporates three distinct divisions:

The St. Augustine Sodality, organized in 1892, is the oldest society of women and men at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. The Sodality endeavors to preserve the rich heritage of St. Augustine's as the Mother Church of African American Catholics in the Nations Capitol by seeking not only to nourish the spiritual lives of its members, but to reach out in loving response to the needs of its neighbors.

"Sodalis" is a Latin word which can be translated as a very close friend or associate, a companion who shares common principles and who works toward a common vision.

The Sodality seeks to provide a deep spiritual formation to its members and to foster a genuine love for Mary and for all humankind. It encourages its members to live virtuous lives and actively supports the sanctification of individual Sodalists to equip them for the work of building up the Kingdom of God on earth.

In order to further that important work, the St. Augustine Sodality sponsors programs in liturgy, evangelization, ecumenism and community outreach. We proclaim our identity as Sodalists of Mary and as her children by promoting devotions to the rosary, by seeking to intimately know Christ Jesus through the intercession of his Blessed Mother, and by the example of our lives.
