The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness shall not overcome it. (John 1:5)
(The following is based on Father Pat’s letter to the parish. Click here to read.)
Every year just before Christmas I ask all wage earning parishioners to make a concerted effort to increase their contribution toward the Christmas Collection since the 15% Archdiocesan Offertory Tax is only applied to Sunday collections. The Christmas Collection always brings a much needed boost to our parish budget because it is "tax free" – which means 100% is available for the parish's use!
So, as we press on in faith to continue our mission of confronting and overcoming the darkness, please continue to be as generous as your situation will allow during the Christmas season. As always, you can mail in your contribution, or make a One-Time Gift cash donation through FaithDirect, or you can text-to-give at 202-930-8147. (Specify “Christmas Collection”)
Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
Fr. Patrick A. Smith, Pastor
