Our MissionSt. Augustine's Called and Gifted Ministry works to help lay Catholics discern their unique spiritual gifts or charisms given by the Holy Spirit. We empower individuals to recognize their specific calling and actively participate in the mission of our parish with greater effectiveness, joy, and purpose.

What We Do
It is normal for adult Catholics to ask, “What is God calling me to?” Our ministry helps parishioners discern their charisms, and thereby infuse the parish with the energy and dynamism of the Holy Spirit!
In chapter 3 of her book Forming Intentional Disciples, Sherry Weddell describes parishes that revitalized themselves through charism exploration. She writes “A powerful way to foster a parish culture of discernment is by beginning with the discernment of personal charisms…..A charism carries with it a certain leadership (formal or informal) in that particular area of giftedness….Recognizing one’s charisms unleashes amazing creativity and initiative.”
The Called & Gifted Workshop
Called and Gifted workshops help individuals begin a journey to discover the unique call God has for you, and the supernatural gift He gives you to fulfill your mission in life! All adults seeking to better understand their Holy Spirit-given charism are invited to participate.
We have hosted these 1-day workshops at St. Augustine several times, and plans are underway to host another one in the next 12 months.

You're Invited! Called and Gifted: A Morning of Reflection and Connection

Join Our Ministry!
We are seeking volunteers (generally those who have attended prior workshops) to assist with planning the next workshop:
- 1-Day Workshop (tentatively Fall 2025)
- Lead one hour gifts interview (one-on-one sessions with workshop participants)
- Lead small group discernment sessions (weekly for a series of weeks after the workshop)
We invite people with many types of gifts and talents. Examples of roles and activities:- Organize/plan ministry events
- Coordinate the environment space for major events (create a spirit of welcome with food and decorations)
- Develop content for advertisements (flyers, posters, pulpit announcements, Flocknote, Usher desk TV display)
- Help conduct one-on-one charism exploration interviews following workshop
- Lead small group discernment sessions following the workshop
