  • Emmaus Walk

    • "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7
    • Our Mission

Emmaus Walk is the Mental Health Ministry of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Part of the mission of Emmaus Walk is to respond to the call of addressing the emotional needs of our community with love and support by providing assessment, triage, and referral services to our members who find that the stress of meeting the challenges of life have created distress, and life feels overwhelming.

There is a balm in Gilead to heal the soul.
    • What We Do

Mental Health or Emotional Health is the degree in which we are able to meet life’s challenges. Emmaus Walk aims to support individuals and families affected by mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and integrate mental well-being into the spiritual life of the parish.

We host educational events and activities and invite mental health professionals to speak on topics like stress management, understanding common mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety), suicide prevention, trauma awareness, and healthy coping mechanisms.  We intentionally create an environment where people feel safe to be vulnerable and share their struggles without judgment.  As people of faith, we also explore how spiritual practices (prayer, scripture reading, worship, meditation) can be integrated as tools for resilience and coping, alongside professional treatment.
